MASA congratulates AAA Media Management student

Sadhvi Rampersad and Lyn Jones

The student who showed the best attitude, aptitude and enthusiasm for entering the world of media according to the AAA was Sadhvi Rampersad, and Chairperson Lyn Jones was at her graduation to congratulate her.

Together with the AAA, AMASA committee members are responsible for setting exam papers, monitoring course material and for arranging top class lecturers who give freely of their time to impart their knowledge to learners.

“The course is quite gruelling, and calls for students, who are usually new to the industry, to commit to two hour long lectures on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, over a six month period,” says Lyn.

“The course covers both the theory and practical aspects of media planning and looks at the fundamental skills needed and the perceived pros and cons of each media type over separate lectures. Students are required to complete group and individual tasks throughout the course which count for marks, culminating in a final exam at the end of the course. To assist them on their way, each student is armed with the new edition of AMASA’s media planning textbook ‘The Nuts ‘n Bolts of Media Planning’.”

Out of a total of 31 Johannesburg and 18 Cape Town students who took part in the 2011 course, Sadhvi and her colleagues will no doubt be assets to whichever companies take the opportunity to employ them,” says Lyn.

The 2012 Media Module course runs from July this year. Interested parties can contact [email protected]
