TopTV has signed up two new third-party channels that will both start broadcasting on its pay-TV platform before the end of this month.
An exciting addition to the line-up is a 24-hour international news, information and lifestyle channel, NHK World TV. Coming out of Tokyo in Japan, the English channel features Newsline, a half-hour live news broadcast at the top of every hour from its 54 broadcast stations across Japan and 31 bureaus situated in major cities across the world, and captured on high definition cameras.
Following the news bulletin, the remainder of each hour comprises a variety of Asian lifestyle programmes, award-winning documentaries and special reports focusing on culture, art and music, anime (a Japanese style of animated cartoons), Asian business news and trends, fashion, cooking, science, social issues, nature, entertainment and sport.
NHK World TV reaches approximately 130-million households around the world. With the launch of NHK World TV on Channel 406 this weekend, TopTV subscribers in South Africa now have the opportunity to join this global audience and enjoy an international understanding of Japan through a broad range of impartial information programmes providing an Asian perspective of the world.
The other new channel to grace the screens of TopTV subscribers in the very near future, and definitely before the end of March, is the African Movie Channel (AMC). While this is the replacement channel for Hi Nolly, its extensive library of African movie titles and soaps, series and dramas make AMC undisputedly the largest African content aggregator in the industry, and a global player to be reckoned with.
AMC has built a successful business since its launch in 2005, by exploiting its extraordinary library of more than 1 000 quality Nollywood and other African movie titles, and hundreds of hours of award-winning soaps, series and dramas from all across the continent.
AMC has established strong content and platform partnerships to ensure that it can consistently offer the best African content across all its distribution platforms, including TopTV.
The launch date for AMC on Channel 120 on TopTV is still to be confirmed but the pay-TV operator is very excited to be bringing this top-class African movie channel to its current and future subscribers.
