The Daily Sun wins ABF President’s Cup

The annual ABF Vital Support Fund President’s Cup golf day was held at Houghton Golf Club on 29 June, with the team from The Daily Sun taking top honours.

“Well done to Damion van Alphen and Bruce Macfarlane, we expect you back next year to defend your title,” says Sharlene Vallance, Vice President of the ABF Vital Support Fund.

The full field of golfers thoroughly enjoyed the newly designed Jack Nicklaus golf course.

Primarily sponsored by Primedia Broadcasting, the golf day was a huge success.  “Andrew Cooper and his team from Primedia Broadcasting were amazing,” says Vallance. “Not only did they sponsor all the Cutter and Buck golf shirts for the golfers at registration, they also provided giveaways on each of their sponsored holes. A financial commitment like this is by no means a small feat. Primedia Broadcasting enabled the ABF to take the event to a new level,” she adds.

Thanks also go to The Space Station, digital media sales, who sponsored the halfway house. “The SpaceStation team where very welcoming and the golfers were treated to a lovely lunch at the halfway house, giving them the sustenance they needed for the remaining nine holes,” says Vallance.

Mike Luscombe, CEO of The SpaceStation said: “We are honoured to assist the ABF in order for them to continue their vital work in providing support to our fellow colleagues and their families, in the advertising and media industry, who have fallen on hard times. Congratulations again to The Daily Sun on your win!”

The ABF would like to thank the hole sponsors, who kindly contributed their time at the event. “We would also like to acknowledge the media owners and advertising agencies that participated and shared their financial fortune with the ABF’s charges,” says Vallance.

Thanks to Alexander Leibner, CNBC Marketing Manager and ABF executive committee member, for being an extremely humorous MC.
