Guests at the DSTV Media Sales naming event held recently at the new Yamaha premises in Sandton saw a 6 metre high digital chandelier revealed to the guests. The digital chandelier was crafted by the experiential marketing agency Launch Factory.
Inspired by the structure of a traditional chandelier, the 4 metre high, 3 metre wide and 550 kg digital chandelier cascaded downwards into the audience in a sweep of high-end technology consisting of 16 flat-screen 32 and 42 inch Samsung televisions, 10 Samsung laptops, 10 Samsung computer screens, 6 hot-off-the-market Galaxy tabs and 20 Samsung cellphones. The numerous devices were synched together in a cross-talk platform and transformed into different sized screens across which the choreographed visuals wowed the audience, revealing the new name and brand offering of DSTV Media Sales, bringing the new branding to life.
DSTV Media Sales is a South African terrestrial and satellite commercial airtime sales business entitiy with a dynamic service offering across multiple multimedia advertising platforms including television, PCs, tablets and mobile phones. The creative objective of the Launch Factory team was to find a way to integrate all the different digital platforms in a seamless configuration that would provide high entertainment on the night.
“We love technology and the challenges of breaking new ground on every project. This project is not average – to talk to TVs, laptops, monitors, tablets and mobile phones at the same time is highly complicated. We’ve done it!” said Spero Patricios, the Managing Director of the Launch Factory.
While no easy technological feat, the team worked hard at breaking creative boundaries and coming up with a world-class concept that would put South African technology and creativity on the map. Tracey Marcus, General Manager of the Launch Factory is proud of the team’s passion and determination: “With the long grueling hours and tight deadlines, it’s a project that the Launch Factory team is extremely proud of and is certainly one of the highlights in our history.”
The reveal took place in the yet unused Yamaha building as the team wanted to orchestrate the masterpiece in an entirely new space that would add to the uniqueness of the experience. “When your guests have almost seen it all you have to go the extra mile to impress – this is what this event did” said the Launch Factory’s Creative Director, Greg Sheppard.
“DSTV Media Sales could not have wished for a more high-tech salute to our new brand and service-offering, this magnificent chandelier has set the tone as a technological first and we’ll be installing it at our head-office space as a symbol of the bright future of DSTV Media Sales.” Says Natasha Velen, Marketing Manager DStv Media Sales.
