RESPONSIBLE TO THE PRODUCTION MANAGER

Responsible for the complete layout and design of:

1. The Specialist Form – (monthly)
2. SA Rheumatology Journal – (alternate monthly)
3. SA Orthopaedic Journal  – (alternate monthly)
4. SA Cardiology & Stroke Journal – (alternate monthly)
5. SA Ophthalmology Journal – (alternate monthly)
6. All supplements / ad hoc work allocated to you

Main Functions/Duties

1. Ensure that all deadlines are met timeously
2. Ensure that all design work completed compliments the individual brand of the magazine
3. Must be able to deep-etch and editing of all photographs
4. Ensure all adverts are correct according to correspondence given
5. Take delivery of all adverts either by FTP, Courier, Websend, Quickcut ,email etc
6. PDF making of all pages  ready for print
7. Uploading of PDF files to FTP/Insite
8. Follow up of any queries relating to the colour plotter
9. Sign off of the final colour plotter for print

 

Necessities:

 

• Must be able to work on Apple Mac CS4/5 package.
• (In-design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Entourage, Safari)
• Some PC experience needed
• Design experience with Medical layout preferable
• Minimum two years work experience in layout or design
• Web design will be a bonus
