A legend passes

It’s the end of an era with the passing of John Farquhar on Saturday, 28 January 2012, a few months short of his 85^th birthday. Founder of AdVantage magazine he was a legend in the Ad industry. In a story written by Chris Moerdyk for Bizcommunity, Moerdyk described the industry stalwart as opinionated, presumptuous, irascible and probably the most successful commentator and advertising personality in the country. Everybody desperately wanted to show him what they did and how clever they were in the hope that he would give them some sort of positive nod in AdVantage magazine – something he made into the most widely read and popular magazine in the industry. Moerdyk went on to say that he achieved that by telling it like it was and insisting that everyone else who wrote for the magazine did the same.
