Sourcing

Reporting published by the AdVantage desk is written from published, checkable sources - regulator and industry-body documents, company results, public research and the trade press - and the main sources consulted are listed at the foot of each piece. Where a number could not be verified it is not published.

Marking

Every page carries one of three marks. Current reporting is dated and credited to the AdVantage desk. Archive material is labelled AdVantage archive and is not updated. Contributed and paid placements carry a notice stating that they were supplied by an outside party and are not the work of the desk.

Commercial material

Paid placement never buys editorial coverage, a rating, or a position in our reporting. It buys a clearly marked page or link. See Advertise & publish with us.

Corrections

Errors are corrected on the page where they appeared, with a line saying what was changed and when. We do not quietly rewrite published material.

Archive and the record

Pages published on this domain are kept online. We do not delete reporting because it has aged, and we do not backdate or re-date old material to make it look current.
