Come Closer: How Tourism Is Shaping the Future of Nations, by Anita Mendiratta, is fast gaining recognition by some global leaders and media as an informative and relevant reference guide for the tourism sector. The books recent listing on the world’s biggest bookseller, Amazon.Com, reinforces the importance of the sector.

As stated by Business Day, “Tourism’s enormous growth, despite a dip caused by the global is, as (Mendiratta) says, inseparable from economic growth. Plus, it is the kind of industry just about anyone can get into at some level. This is one of those books that asks questions and gives information that can feed the answers, but leaves the answering of the question up to you.”

Successful entry and growth in the tourism industry means making sure the fundamentals are in place. With Come Closer, now the tourism industry has just that.

David Scowsill, president and CEO, World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) , echoes the importance of getting the word out there to get tourism growing stronger, wider and deeper.

“The global Travel and Tourism industry at 9% GDP is critical to countries across the world trying to move forward as developed and developing nations. This is especially true during this period of global economic crisis. For the industry to really work, and generate the jobs, revenues, investment and trade that it is capable of, understanding of the central principles and practices of the industry is a must. The fact that  AMAZON.COM has now begun worldwide distribution of “COME CLOSER: How Tourism is Shaping the Future of Nations” is a strong, overt statement of AMAZON.COM’s belief in the importance of the global tourism industry.”
