Despite his obvious talent, Khaya Mthethwa’s singing career got off to a bumpy start. At school his teachers were eager to have him join the school choir but Khaya showed little interest. Fortunately for Idols both of Khaya’s parents are pastors, so singing at church was a must and his love for music grew from there. With a growing love for singing and his parents guiding him in the right direction, Khaya has emerged as a role model for young South Africans.
