Great news for those who thought they would miss the entry deadline for The 34th Annual Loerie Awards – there is an official extension until 15 June 2012!
Both the entry deadline and the eligibility period have been extended. This means that all work must be commercially published, launched or aired to a substantial audience for the first time between 1 June 2011 and 15 June 2012.
A 5% late fee will apply to entries submitted after the original deadline of 31 May. No further extensions will be given and all entries should be received by the extended deadline.
This year, R30 from each entry will go towards the Creative Future Scholarship, enabling talented learners from a disadvantaged background to study brand communication at a tertiary institution. More information on the Creative Future Scholarship is available at www.theloerieawards.co.za.
New categories in 2012:
Rest of Africa & the Middle East – Introduced specifically for entries from companies outside South Africa. This new category aims to better promote the work being produced throughout these regions. Work will be judged separately, allowing improved representation and offering greater exposure to each country’s creative output. This category is open for entries in Communication Design; Direct & PR Communication; Internet, Mobile & Interactive Media; Live Events; Print & Outdoor; Radio; TV, Video & Film; and Integrated Campaigns.
Media Innovation – Single entries in this category will be judged specifically on how well the medium was used, while campaign entries will be judged on how successfully they have integrated the chosen media throughout the campaign. Campaign entries should also demonstrate how well the different types complement and build on each other to communicate the brands message.
Special Awards:
ADreach Street-Pole Award: The winning entry will automatically be entered into the outdoor advertising category at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival of Creativity. In addition, the winner gets an all expenses paid trip for two to attend the event in Cannes.
ADreach Integrated Campaign Award: This prize goes to the winning brand in the Integrated Campaign category. The recipient will receive R100,000 worth of street-pole media space with ADreach.
Adams & Adams Young Creatives Award: This award recognises outstanding achievement by talented individuals (aged 27 years or younger) who are at the beginning of their careers working in the brand communication industry. The two recipients each receive a trip to the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival of Creativity.
Judging Week and Seminar join Creative Week CT
For the first time, the Loeries judging will immediately precede the awards ceremonies in Cape Town. Judging will take place from 17 – 20 September in Cape Town’s historic City Hall, with finalists being announced during the week. The Loeries Seminar, including the international jury chairmen will take place on Friday 21 September.
Creative Week CT sets the perfect backdrop for The 34th Annual Loerie Awards ceremonies to be held on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. This year, the Pendoring Awards also joins Creative Week and will take place on the Friday evening at the CTICC.
Awards and Seminar tickets are now open and may be booked at www.theloerieawards.co.za, where accommodation and Tempest car hire specials can also be found.
