Organization Objective/Purpose:
The Project Finance group provides financial and analytical support to the Project Services Enterprise that manages the execution of all projects at Schwab. This relatively new group assists in all stages of project planning and execution, from funding allocation through due diligence, progress reporting, and post project reviews. This group is the primary Finance point of contact for Project Services Leadership, the Central Project Management Office (PMO) and the Project Review Board. In addition, this group administers the Investment Planning process for the company, including development of financial standards for business cases and reporting on the project portfolio for Senior Management.
Brief Description of Role:
This position will play a key role in supporting the strategic and financial needs of the Project Services Enterprise. The person will manage financial planning and analysis for the Enterprise. This person will take the lead in various aspects of project planning, forecasting and investment analysis. This person is a key partner to the Leadership Team of the Enterprise and their organizations, providing analytical and decision support to help solve business issues and assist in driving change. Additionally, this person will seek opportunities and implement changes to help simplify and streamline the financial management process for project managers.
Although this is primarily a business support role, this person will also help improve Schwab’s project due diligence process through implementing key processes, developing business case analysis standards/tools, and providing consultative support to PMO and cross-enterprise Finance contacts.
This is an individual contributor level role.
Technical/Functional Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience. MBA is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have extensive experience interfacing with senior management and work well in a team environment.
- Superior analytical and business consulting skills, including contracting, finance analytics/modeling and presentation.
- Self starter with the ability to prioritize and manage a number of time sensitive workstreams/projects concurrently, and work effectively in a complex, rapidly-changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to structure analytical problems using critical reasoning skills to evaluate financial issues/solutions, and lead complex decision-support projects.
- Experienced collaborator with enthusiasm for to defining new processes and leading improvement implementations.
- Direct experience conducting cost benefit analysis and applying economic evaluation concepts and principles (NPV, WACC, opportunity cost, and calculation of financial benefits. Ability to acquire in-depth understanding of project issues and investments.
- Excellent proficiency with Excel with good knowledge of Powerpoint & Word. Access and Oracle/SQL experience a plus.
