Woolworths SA, and Quirk, has unveiled a Facebook platform that lets users shop on the social media site.
This platform started in December last year and Facebook users were able to browse and select Woolworths products from the company’s Facebook page. Quirk explains how it works. Once items have been chosen, users are taken to the official Woolworths Web site, where they can enter their credit card details and finalise the purchase.
The retailer plans to develop the platform to include food purchases. Customers can currently shop for homeware, beauty products, clothing and general goods.
According to Quirk CTO Craig Raw, local brand marketing on Facebook has grown tremendously in the past year, making ‘f-commerce’ the logical next step.
Quirk argues that the volume of Facebook users in SA allows brands to reach more consumers.
